Incense Chamber

A hand-shaped incense chamber made from oversmoked clay resulting in a rich black and brown color we call espresso.
The form is tall with a small sculptural opening that frame the incense stick and allow smoke to move through the body of the piece. Its dark surface comes from the firing and smoking process, then is finished with a wet beeswax application that gives the clay a deep, soft sheen. Inspired from the Kuumba metal can incense holder.
To use, insert the incense stick upside down through the top opening. Gently break the exposed wooden end so the stick locks into place inside the chamber.

How to Use
Insert the incense stick upside down through the top opening. Once positioned, gently break the wooden end so it catches and locks into place. Place on a stable, heat-safe surface before lighting.
Material & Use Note
Each clay object is handmade and fired in an outdoor oven. Small cracks, color variation, burn marks, ash residue, and surface irregularities may naturally occur during the firing process.
Because fire and wind can make one side of the oven hotter than another, tonal shifts and darker marks are expected. Small traces on the surface may come from ash, wood, or plant material touching the piece during firing.
These details are not considered defects. They are part of the life of the object and the process by which it is made.
Care
Remove ash after use. Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not wash, soak, or use abrasive cleaners. Burn incense only on a stable, heat-safe surface and never leave burning incense unattended.
